The closing concert of this year's Bergstadtsommer Music Festival will take place next Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 8 p.m. at the Franziskaner Konzerthaus in Villingen. The hall is known far beyond Villingen's city limits for its wonderful acoustics, and it's a special pleasure for any musician to perform there.
This year, we've planned a special highlight for our audience: Lydia Teuscher, originally from Villingen and now performing on stages around the world, will first sing selected songs by Strauss and Mahler with the Black Forest Chamber Orchestra. After the interval, my brother Karsten will conduct Gustav Mahler's monumental, wonderful, and thrilling Symphony No. 5. We've once again assembled a fantastic orchestra for this evening, featuring outstanding musicians from the region, the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Stuttgart State Orchestra, and beyond. The anticipation knows no bounds, and the musicians will soon gather in St. Georgen for their first rehearsal. I can only warmly recommend this concert to every classical music fan.
